Activist: Nick Ryder

Fought speeding ticket in court.

A cop gave Nick a speeding ticket and Nick fought it. In court, Nick refused to use the court's terminology regarding who he was. The judge wanted to know if he was Nicholas J Ryder, and Nick only said "That is the name on my drivers license" and "That is what people call me." Nick also challenged the story the cop gave, essentially calling the cop a liar.

Organized Public Poker Event

At The Freedom Festival of Spring 2008, Nick organized and operated the first free-stater public gambling event, when he dealt a real money poker game to 4-5 players. Despite police being in the area, none approached the illegal game

Started the pro-marijuana rallies in Keene.

Noah co-organized of the 420 rallies in Keene and presented himself for arrest in a daily basis in the town square, smoking pot, sometimes with as little as one other person and as many as 120 other people. He also courageously reached out the the local population, getting to know them and rallying them for the cause and the event.

Arrested for refusing to give his name while standing peacefully in a courthouse lobby.

Patrick was trying to attend the public arraignment of Dave Ridley but Eliezer Rivera, a Keene cop and prosecutor, and the court and police officers went haywire and detained every activist (but not every person!) in the lobby because Sam was being arrested for trying to video record.

Stood up to cops and mayor after being harrassed for open-carrying.

Ryan Marvin and three friends were illegally stopped by the police in June of 2008 for open carrying firearms. Ryan and his friends handled the situation exceptionally well, and Ryan refused to leave after the cops said he could, because they hadn't yet released his friends from detainment.

Not only did William open-carry a gun to the Obama town hall meeting on healthcare in Portsmouth, but he politely confront cops (link is to video on Facebook) who told him to leave, and he also appeared in a 5-minute interview on MSNBC's
