While Sam was in jail for recording in a public lobby, Ivy acted as his legal council. She temporarily moved to Keene, leaving her son with her mother and her restaurant with her husband, to care for Sam's house and cat while also aiding Sam. She researched legal paths available to Sam, filled out govt paperwork, filed it with various courts, visited Sam in jail (for a while, she was denied access to Sam, but she persisted and finally beat the system and gained access to him).
