Barskey was pulled over for speeding and cited for that, for driving without a NH driver license, and for his passenger having an open container (an empty beer bottle). During that detainment, the cops also learned that Barskey had a gun in his car and they handcuffed him while they tried to figure out a way to charge him with something, but the gun was unloaded and you do not need a permit to transport an unloaded gun so they let him go without any gun-related citation. Barskey refused to show up in court for their trial, and the judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest for "carrying loaded handgun without a license." Barskey was arrested on this warrant on February 1 and at first did not cooperate (did not fingerprint, refused TB test, refused to pay $2,000 bail), so he spent 4 nights in jail. Then he fingerprinted and paid bail to get out.
